Charity excess is only given to ‘Registered’ charities on our winter charter flights and you will be required to supply a registered charity number.
Please contact our Administration team at admin@gambia.co.uk or on 0845 330 2044 for excess availability. An alternative option would be to freight goods, which is also less expensive. This can be done through ‘Redcoat Travel’ on 01293 522440.

You can arrange a school visit by contacting the School Development Team. We would be extremely grateful for any photos and feedback from your visit.
Unfortunately we are currently unable to transport books due to weight restrictions on our flights. Redcoat Travel, a Freight Operator, maybe able to assist you and their rates are often cheaper than excess baggage charges. Their number is 01293 522440.
There is also a company called Jole Rider, who carry and distribute books out in The Gambia http://www.books4africa.eu/ Please be aware that Jole Rider is not associated with The Gambia Experience.
Although you may view it as a small contribution, schools are more than happy to receive basic equipment such as pens, paper and chalk and these are light items which can be carried within your own luggage allowance.
For information about where to distribute these you can contact us in advance of your trip or speak to our Resort Office when you arrive in The Gambia.
We do not reccommend handing out gifts directly to the children.
Every year schools send in their request for funding to our Resort Office in The Gambia.
Requests for support are judged on certain criteria, with schools in the provinces being favoured over schools in tourist areas, which already tend to receive help. We aim to fund whole projects as we want to see them completed. We consider help with renovations of classrooms, kitchens, toilets and building of teacher’s accommodation amongst other things.
