Baati N’darr Lower Basic School 2010
Central River Region
Total Raised - D24,240 (£606)
Funding has been issued to this school and work is now ocmplete.
The school has received money for wire and other fencing materials to protect their school garden.
Previously leaves from palm trees were being used. These are often damaged by animals resulting in the locals stripping the trees in the area to repair it.
As the Gambia Experience are committed to carbon offset schemes and making a difference with tree planting, it was felt that this was a worthwhile project for us to support.
By providing the funds to build a sturdy, long lasting fence we believe that this will not only protect the vegetable garden from local animals but also reduce local deforestation.
Comments
"The materials (currently) used are a contributing factor to deforestation which is a national concern."
