Gambia Resort Team
Our Resort Team, headed by Joyce, are mostly Gambian and they have a wealth of local knowledge and a desire to support their local community. Contribution to the local community has been achieved primarily through helping to fund the building, renovating and equipping of schools.
The School fund was set up in 1989. Due to the generosity of Gambia Experience clients and the company’s own commitment to responsible tourism, the fund has supported over 100 projects in The Gambia.
Any schools wishing to apply for funding should put their request in writing together with a breakdown of costs and if possible supporting photography to: Joyce Stavroulakis, The Gambia Experience Resort Office, Senegambia Hotel, PO Box 2373, Banjul.
Please note that the fund is currently only able to support government run schools as the Ministry of Education oversees the projects.
For clients wishing to visit schools, our Resort Team are more than happy to provide you with local information and can put you in touch with Heads of schools.
UK Team
The School Development Team in the UK comprises of staff from different areas of the company. We are Kathy Burrington - Graphic Designer from Marketing, Katie Bushnell - Product Executive, Jacqueline Eaton - Administration Manager and Dennis Williams - Graphical Web Designer. When we heard about the relaunch we were all very willing volunteers, wanting to contribute as much as possible.
We officially relaunched the fund in June 2010 with this website. Our aim is to raise awareness of the School Development Fund both with our clients, our staff in the UK and schools in The Gambia. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible, through donations and fund raising events in order to assist many of the worthy projects the fund is asked to support.
