As a result we know The Gambia well and pride ourselves on positively contributing to the development of the country’s local communities. One of the ways in which we do this is through our recently re-launched School Development Project, which helps to fund the building, renovating and equipping of schools in The Gambia.
For a true cultural experience, a visit to a local school is the ideal addition to a group trip to The Gambia, and we would suggest this as a ‘must’ for any UK school group. Bringing groups of students together from different cultures provides an interesting study of interaction and social skills by exploring diversity as well as learning from each other’s experiences. This is something that can benefit both students and teachers alike, boosting personal development and creating career path aspirations for future generations.
In addition, a number of other projects can be undertaken in The Gambia for key study areas; for example, taking part in the poignant ‘Roots’ trip, exploring the country’s slave trade history, or participation in an African percussion style music workshop.
